Description: Home automation refers to the construction of automated systems for a house, called a home computer network or intelligent home. An intelligent home will control and/or monitor home features like lighting, climate control, entertainment systems, security systems, and many more. It can also include home safety like access control and alarm system. One example of a home automation device that is installed in homes is a smoke alarm system. Almost every house has one since it works automatically once you activate it with the help of an Infrared signal that passes through one another detectors.

Definition: Home automation refers to the use of technology that allows a user to control certain functions of a house or a building using remote devices. Examples of these devices include mobile devices and computer software. For example, a person can control his or her blinds and lights from anywhere in the room because of a mobile device. Meanwhile, a person can shut off the central air conditioning by just using a smartphone without having to go into the room. These real-time capabilities are very important especially when it comes to security measures at home.

Definition: In order for one to fully understand what home automation is, he or she should be able to define it first. The definition states that home automation is "the collection and usage of data for making decisions". Basically, a smart thermostat for example can be used in order to control the temperature of a room. This thermostat will know when the temperature outside is too hot and then it will switch on the lights. Likewise, a smartphone with a camera or with a game system can be used to remotely control lighting in a room. To learn more about home automation system, click here.

Definition: A smart sprinkler can also be considered as an example of home automation. A smart sprinkler will not only turn on the water but can also trigger other appliances based on the set routine. An automated irrigation system can turn on when the sprinkler head is lowered and then the other systems like the washer or dryer will start when the timer has been met. Some automated systems can even send text messages to the homeowner if there is a leak in any of these appliances. Some examples of these intelligent devices are the smart water sensors which can detect leaks in faucets or other places which might pose a risk of flooding in a home and the smoke sensor which can detect any flammable incident and alert the authorities in such instances.

Definition: Home automation is becoming more popular as home appliances are becoming more intelligent and user-friendly. Most of the devices mentioned above are controlled by touch screens or by remotely controlling them using a smartphone or a mobile device. Home automation is also used for things like controlling your lighting control. For example, you can use your kitchen appliances to turn on the lights when you wake up or to turn off your bedroom's lights after you have finished sleeping. Home automation can even be used to control your lawn irrigation by making use of a sprinkler timer.
